Building a Life by Design: From First-Gen Graduate to Full Professor

I’m a first-generation college graduate, and that story shapes everything I do, from image consulting and personal branding to creative direction and education.

I grew up in a rural, multi-generational household with no cell service…but plenty of grit. I learned early how to problem-solve, adapt, and make something beautiful out of very little. That resourcefulness? It’s still at the core of how I help clients shape their style, identity, and presence.

At 16, I went to beauty school.
At 18, I had my first business license.

Before I had the language for it, I was already building a life rooted in entrepreneurship, creativity, and self-expression.

I put myself through undergrad and grad school, and by 29, I became an Assistant Professor of Theatre, specializing in costume design and visual storytelling. More than twenty years later, I’m proud to now be a Full Professor! I still doing what I love: helping people step into who they are and how they want to be seen.

I’ve worked with over 6,000 students (yes, I remember names), and today my work extends beyond the classroom through my image consulting and brand strategy practice.

Now, I help clients align who they are with how they show up—through style, storytelling, and strategy.

My path hasn’t been linear—but it’s always been intentional.

And that’s exactly what I help my clients create.
